AI and learning? Everything has changed. And nothing has.
The “everything” is obvious: AI tutors, automated assessments, rampant cheating, legit fear of replacement, and the potential of truly individualized learning. The learning landscape is facing enormous disruption.
And yet:
great learning hasn’t changed, and neither have its essential human elements.
A few of the constants:
👉 Intentionality: Great learning requires meaningful goals and meaningful assessment built from experience and wisdom.
🙏 Connection: A great teacher creates emotional connections, psychological safety, and motivation to learn.
🤯 Struggle: Learning requires productive mental effort – desirable difficulty that leads to meaningful progress.
And, as always, technology should enhance these human elements, not replace them.
It should streamline and augment mental effort, not reduce it.
It should make the path to mastery more efficient and effective, but no less meaningful.
So, while navigating the disruption, let’s lean into the foundations of great learning.
Because those will never change.
